Patience is a must for this role, given the diverse ages and learning abilities of the children you'll be working with. We encourage you to take the initiative to address classroom challenges and lend a hand wherever needed.


Volunteer Responsibilities and Impact

Volunteers in this project actively collaborate with the local community and teachers to support children's education. As a volunteer teacher in Zimbabwe, you'll have the opportunity to teach in Kindergarten, Pre-school, or Primary schools, depending on your preference and skills.

Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with teachers on lesson plans, assisting in the classroom, helping students grasp content, teaching as a substitute teacher when necessary, and handling school-related administrative tasks. You will work Monday to Friday, engaging in activities such as teaching English, math, playing with children, and participating in home economics-related tasks.

In addition to these duties, you'll engage in the enjoyable tasks of organizing educational games, songs, and sports activities to create a more enriching experience for the children. By being a volunteer, you'll play a crucial part in supporting the educational journey of children of all ages, providing them with a brighter future. At the end of each day, you can rest assured that your efforts contribute to carving a better path for children in need.


Volunteer Schedule

First Day : On your first day of volunteering, you will be escorted to your placement by a local coordinator and introduced to the placement staff. You will receive an orientation of your school, the tasks that you will be required to help with, and your schedule.

Weekdays: This is an example of what a typical volunteer day will look like once you get started.

7.00 to 7.30 AM: Enjoy breakfast at the volunteer house and get ready for a day of teaching and learning.

7.45 AM: Head off to your placement. Assist the teacher with morning lessons and provide students with the valuable help they need to fully understand the topics.

12.00 PM: Enjoy lunch, play with children, or get to know your fellow volunteers and the local teachers.

3:00 PM: Volunteer work usually finishes for the day. After your rewarding day of helping advance students' learning, you will have the afternoon to head home and socialize with your friends, explore all that Victoria Falls has to offer, shop for supplies or prepare lessons and resources for the next school day.

Program Fees Cover:

During your volunteer teaching program in Zimbabwe, you'll stay in a secure and tranquil volunteer house designed for the comfort of up to 20 volunteers. Conveniently located with easy access to essential amenities, the house boasts modern facilities like western-style toilets, air conditioning, cable TV, Wi-Fi, and a laundry service at a reasonable rate of $5-$10 per bag.

The program fee covers transportation to and from your project site, ensuring convenience. Moreover, three nutritious meals each day provide a great opportunity for connecting with diverse fellow volunteers, fostering camaraderie during communal mealtimes, and enhancing the overall volunteer experience.

Program Location, Free Time, and Weekends

Your teaching volunteer program takes place in Zimbabwe, Victoria Falls, one of Africa’s most breathtaking destinations. This vibrant town is known for its welcoming communities, natural beauty, and, of course, the awe-inspiring Victoria Falls—one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. You’ll be placed in local schools where your support in the classroom will make a real difference in the lives of young learners, many of whom face challenges due to limited resources and overcrowded classrooms.

During the weekdays, you’ll volunteer for about 4–5 hours per day from Monday to Friday, leaving you with late afternoons and evening free to explore your surroundings. Use this time to walk around the neighborhood, or visit nearby markets and cafes.

Your weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are free for adventure and exploration. From wildlife safaris in nearby national parks to thrilling activities like bungee jumping, white-water rafting, and guided hikes around the Falls, there’s no shortage of unforgettable experiences.
