Volunteer in Botswana

Are you considering volunteering overseas? Are you a wildlife enthusiast seeking opportunities to engage with nature? Would you like to combine your passion for wildlife with meaningful experiences abroad? Have you ever envisioned volunteering in Botswana?

Botswana is a beautiful country in Southern Africa known for its wild animals and natural beauty. Visitors can see amazing animals like elephants and lions in places like the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park.

There are also opportunities to explore the desert and meet local people. Botswana is committed to protecting its environment, making it a great destination for nature lovers.

Despite Botswana's stunning beauty, its wildlife faces numerous challenges. Factors such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, poaching, and climate change threaten the survival of iconic species like elephants, lions, and rhinos. Recognizing these pressing issues, we developed the wildlife volunteer program in Botswana to address these challenges head-on.

By mobilizing volunteers to work alongside local conservationists, we aim to protect and preserve Botswana's precious wildlife, restore habitats, mitigate human-wildlife conflict, and support sustainable conservation efforts. Through collective action and community involvement, we strive to safeguard Botswana's natural heritage for future generations to enjoy.

Accommodation-Room/Food/Supervision

Volunteer opportunities in Botswana offer a unique experience with accommodation provided in a fully equipped tented camp, serving as a comfortable home away from home. The camp features 2-6 persons walk-in safari tents, furnished with bunk beds, sheets, and pillows, while ablutions are shared and equipped with hot and cold showers, as well as flush toilets. Additionally, there's a communal area for dining, relaxation, and reading, along with a charming boma for memorable fireside evenings. The kitchen is well-equipped with gas appliances, and volunteers enjoy delicious home-cooked meals, including special pizza nights featuring homemade pizza from the camp's own oven.

In terms of supervision and coordination, volunteers will have the support of various staff members who oversee different aspects of the work. A designated team leader will be available to ensure the smooth operation of the volunteers' stay, offering guidance and assistance whenever needed. This structure ensures that volunteers have the necessary support and resources to make the most of their experience while contributing meaningfully to conservation efforts in Botswana.

Free Time

You’ll volunteer from Monday to Friday for around five hours per day, with tasks typically scheduled in the early morning and late afternoon to avoid the midday heat. This leaves you with plenty of free time during lunch and the early afternoon to relax, read, play games, or simply unwind.

If you’re feeling more active, you can get involved in optional camp activities like reviewing camera trap data, identifying animal tracks, or photographing birds and insects for identikits.

Evenings are free for you to enjoy at your own pace, whether that’s watching stunning sunsets from a rocky outcrop, gathering around a campfire, or stargazing under Botswana’s clear night skies.

Weekends are completely free, allowing you to rest or explore nearby attractions and experience more of Botswana’s incredible landscapes and wildlife.
