Here’s a short overview of how the program is structured:

Orientation In Nairobi (1 Day)

You will meet with IFRE's local staff members. Participate in a general Q & A session and review the program itinerary. Orientation also includes general orientation on history, culture, tradition, and general issues (health, safety, etc.), and you will have time to explore nearby areas.

Service Projects - Work in an Orphanage (22 Days)

During the next part of your summer volunteer program, you work in a local orphanage, sharing your love and passion for Kenyan orphan children whose lives are void of parental love/care. As an orphanage volunteer in Kenya, you will teach English, organize games, and other creative extra activities like singing, dancing, art, etc. In your free time, you can experience the rich Kenyan culture, tradition, and the day-to-day lifestyles of the local villagers. Volunteers have the chance to hike around their villages and explore Kenyan rural life. We also offer meaningful volunteering opportunities in Teaching English, Healthcare, and HIV/AIDS programs, and would be delighted to arrange a placement that matches your interests.

Kenyan Safari (5 Days/4 Nights): Amboseli National Park, Lake Nakuru, Maasai Mara Game Reserve (5 Days)

With a full and satisfied heart, you depart the orphanage, knowing that you have made a positive impact in the lives of the needy children. Now it’s time to relax as you embark upon a Kenyan safari! You will encounter a multitude of animals - lions, hippos, giraffes, wildebeests, zebras, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, and a variety of antelopes and elephants in the Maasai Mara Game Reserve. The Maasai Mara Game Reserve is world-renowned for this distinct and amazing assortment of wildlife! You may witness the most spectacular event of the natural world while on safari! The migration of millions of wildebeests and zebras – traveling to the Maasai Mara region from across the Serengeti in search of water. Predators (from lions to cheetahs, to wild dogs, to hyenas, and other vultures) closely follow these animals. It’s an impressive experience! You may also explore Amboseli National Park and Lake Nakuru during your safari outing.
