Teach English In Rural Schools (Cusco)
Despite tourism being a leading source of government revenue, many Peruvians don’t have the opportunity to learn English, which limits opportunities for work. Schools in Peru are underfunded, and even though English is required there is a limited number of staff who are qualified to teach it.
Volunteers in this program will work 4-5 hours per day teaching basic English in local primary schools. The rest of the day you will plan and lead extracurricular activities, health education, and potentially even contribute to teaching other subjects like math and science.

Guatemala
Women’s project in Guatemala
Guatemala has a culture steeped in ‘machismo,’ or male-dominated society. Most of the women in Guatemala are regarded as second-class citizen and they are not given the same opportunities as their male counterparts. This results in many of the woman lacking education or not having means to make money independently.
During this international-relation high school student summer camp, you will focus on empowering these women by assisting local staff that help fund the program. Generally, you will be responsible for a wide variety of duties, including helping with Spanish-English translations, accompanying women to court trials, help staff with planning, and helping with educational workshops on reproductive and preventative health, women’s rights, and more. In the afternoons, you may help teach handicrafts.
Your work with these women will help them create businesses in their community, thereby allowing them more independence and self-sufficiency. You will help them generate additional income so they may help their family break free of the poverty cycle. In addition, by sharing your skills and compassion with these disempowered women you will help them gain confidence and rebuild their self-esteem.

Ecuador
Galapagos Conservation In Ecuador
San Cristobal Island is home to a variety of flora and fauna, but due to several adverse effects, it is now listed on the World Heritage list of endangered places. Human development on the famous Galapagos Islands has led to a destruction of the fragile habitats and an introduction of invasive species that threaten to disrupt the delicate balance of multiple unique Galapagos island ecosystems.

You will work on the island of San Cristobal to promote sustainable agriculture, low-impact tourism, and preservation/reforestation of the natural environment. Skill and Qualifications

Housing and Food
The housing and food accommodations you receive depend on your project and country. Most volunteers stay with at least one other same-gendered student with one of our wonderful host families. However, you may also be asked to stay in a shared volunteer house, hostel, or cabin.
Whichever program you decide to join, our outstanding field staff will ensure that you are happy and comfortable in whatever type of accommodations you receive.
