You can’t wait to get started on your Brazil volunteer abroad adventure, but you are probably wondering about all the details that go into planning a trip in another country. Where will you stay? What will you eat? Who will watch over you and help you along your way?

During your volunteer trip to Brazil, you will stay insuperbly maintained hostel in exciting Rio De Janeiro. It has 24- hour security, is comfortable, clean and will offer you a great home base for your time abroad. The projects are situated about 20-25 minutes’ drive from the hostel.

The hostel is in a fantastic location only five minutes’ walking distance from the popular Copacabana Beach, two minutes from the metro station, and is right next to a captivating national park. Recently built, the hostel is equipped with large and tidy rooms and comfortable communal bathrooms with western style toilets and hot water. There are enchanting surrounding areas both indoors&outdoors for you to enjoy, including a rooftop terrace.

The living atmosphere in the hostel is warm and sociable. As one of ourBrazil volunteersyou will enjoy many amenities including fast internet in all therooms, free maps, free bed linen, free purified water, ceiling fans, air conditioning, individual luggage storage and lockers, a bar, a sitting room with a 42” LCD TV, a backyard rooftop, free book exchange and towels.

You will share a 4-bed dorm with volunteers of the same gender, a fantastic opportunity to bond with like-minded volunteers from around the world! Private rooms are available upon request at an additional charge.

All the necessary services you will need while volunteering in Brazilare available within easy walking distance from the hostel. There is a 24-hour market and all kinds of bars, restaurants, clubs, banks, laundry services, ATMs, hospitals and super markets. Nearby you will also find awildlife park, hiking trails and a football court.

The staff in the hostel are courteous and can communicate in English, Spanish and Portuguese. The location is secure and with no curfew, so you can enjoy the best of Rio at any time, night or day!

Meal

While volunteering in Brazil, you will be provided a delicious breakfast at the hostel. Breakfast includes a spread of cold foods including cereals, toast, fruit, tea and coffee and is served at 8-10am every morning.

Lunch and dinner are not included in your program fee, so you will need to organize these yourself. Be sure to include some extra money in your budget to cover this. There are various options for lunch. You can eat out, or you may eat at the project site which would be a typical Brazilian buffet which may include a range of meat, black beans (feijão), rice and salads. This is not included in your project fee, and there will be a daily fee for this.

There are various options for dinner close to the hostel including restaurants with pizza, Brazilian food, sushi and many other options. Rio is a large city so there are various types of food available, especially in Copacabana!

There are various staple dishes in Brazil, including Feijão (black beans), Feijoada (black beans with sausages and cuts of pork), Barbecue meat, Acai, Moqueca, Cachaça and Brigadeiros. Major ingredients of the Brazilian cuisine are grains, flour, beans, coconut, dende oil, salted codfish, lemon, spices, herbs, etc. Exploring the local cuisine is a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and can be an exciting addition to your Brazil volunteer experience!
