Orphanage Volunteer Opportunity in Peru

peru Orphanage Volunteer OpportunityVolunteer in an orphanage in Peru and immerse yourself in Peru’s colorful culture.

Peru is distraught with the abundance of children that are abandoned as a result of poverty and disease. They desperately need help to continue providing a safe place for these children to learn, grow, and feel safe.

As a volunteer, you will help add brightness to the lives of these unfortunate orphaned children. These children are so precious and only want to be loved. You can help show these children the love and security they so deserve.

Required Training: Prior education or training is not required to volunteer in an orphanage in Peru. Being able to speak some Spanish will enhance your experience and enable you to communicate with the children and staff.

We encourage you to join one of our Spanish classes, but it is not mandatory. We desire you to be compassionate and flexible working with these ill-treated children.

Volunteer Tasks: Volunteers with the orphanage in Peru will work Monday – Friday 4 to 5 hours a day. Responsibilities will vary based on your skills and the needs of school.

You will teach basic English, assist the kids with their homework, plan and implement extracurricular activities, teach other subjects such as hygiene, health, or computer classes, and help with field trips. You might also be needed to help with fundraising activities.

You can help by spending your time volunteering to teach these disadvantaged children.

Requirements: Experience or specific skills are not required to volunteer to teach English in Peru. We request you to dress professionally with no excessive tattoos or piercings visible. We also desire you to be patient, flexible, and eager to teach.

Teacher Responsibilities: As a volunteer teaching, you will work 4 to 5 hours a day Monday – Friday. Your assignment will be based on your skills and the needs of the school.

You will be responsible for teaching basic English, other subjects such as math, science, health, and hygiene. You can also help plan additional activities like games, music, and arts. You might be asked to help with administration tasks and fundraising activities.

Schools in Peru are closed for winter and summer vacations. Volunteers can be placed with different projects.

Peru Healthcare Volunteer Opportunities

Medical and Healthcare Projects in Peru The hospitals and clinics in Peru are a vital to the low-income families. Without them, these families would have no healthcare at all.

To makes matters worse, these clinics are struggling to stay afloat due to lack of resources for up to date equipment and staffing. You can help by becoming a medical volunteer in Peru. You will learn so much all while helping these unfortunate people.

Requirements: To volunteer in our medical projects in Peru, you do not need any experience or education. But you must be able to handle working and seeing blood.

If you have medical education with the proper documentation, you can participate with simple tasks. We prefer you to have a basic knowledge of the Spanish language, but it is not mandatory.

We love our volunteers to be eager, compassionate, and proactive!!

Volunteer Tasks: Medical volunteers in Peru will have a multitude of tasks. They will vary depending on your background and the needs of the clinics.

Depending on your qualifications you can assist with lab work, triage, pharmacy tasks, basic patient care, administrative duties, observing the doctors and nurses, and much more. Doctors with proper qualifications and documentation can treat patients.

Peru Summer Volunteer Abroad Program

Peru Summer Volunteer Abroad Program The summer volunteer program in Peru runs from June – July. You will spend your time working with disadvantaged children and communities. In your free time you can explore the ancient ruins, the Peruvian history, and all the cultural activities.

Welcome And Orientation (1 Day)

Our local staff organizer will greet you, provide you with a basic orientation, and get you settled into your accommodations. You will take a placement test to ensure you are placed where you will flourish the most.

Community Service Project (21 Days)

The second part of the summer volunteer program puts you working at the orphanages. You will teach English for a couple hours a day and help teach them proper hygiene such as brushing their teeth and showering. This phase is extremely rewarding to you and the children.

Exploration Of Peru (7 Days)

The third and final phase of the summer volunteer program in Peru is the exploration of Peru. Here you will explore the fascinating scenery from mountains of Machu Picchu to the Amazon River Basin. You can experience the culture, join the festivities, or shop till you drop! There is something for everyone!

Most programs are available year-round. We recommend volunteers begin their placements on a Monday, scheduling their arrival and departure on the weekends. However, due to flight availability, particularly traveling internationally, start dates are flexible.

We ask that all volunteers ensure to communicate their arrival and departure plans clearly to their country coordinator to ensure transportation and accommodations are properly arranged.

We are proud to focus on the humanitarian aspect of our business, not on profit. We strive to maintain affordable cost, particularly for volunteers; we recognize the value of your donated time and efforts. We remain devoted to maintaining both the quality of the program and the safety of all volunteers involved.

IFRE fees comprise of two separate fees:

  • Application fee of $299 USD (covers advertising, staff/office expenses, etc.)
  • Weekly program fee paid directly to your project (covers room/board, field support, etc).

You will pay your fee directly to host families and projects. In this way, what you pay will go directly from you to the people who deserve it (not for profit).

Arrangement Of Room/Food/Supervision

Volunteers in our programs in Peru will be housed with a host family. Host families are a great way to immerse yourself in the Peruvian culture. They provide a safe place to stay and will provide you with 3 local cooked meals a day.

They are available at all times day or night for your questions or concerns. Our goal is to provide you with an awesome, rewarding time here.
