Tambopata Reserve and Macaw Clay Lick 5 Days Itinerary

Our airport representative will pick you up at the airport and transfer to your 3 star or equivalent hotel accommodation. You will receive a detail orientation about your trip, safety procedures, daily itineraries and more.

We will pick you up from your hotel in Puerto Maldonado and take you to our office for paperwork and itinerary. Then we will drive to the Tambopata River port and board a boat for an hour to our lodge near the river. You will enjoy the stunning views along the way. Our staff will greet you warmly with a fruit drink and a cozy room. You will have a local lunch and feel at home. In the afternoon, we will explore the Amazon jungle and see animals and plants, such as amphibians, arachnids, reptiles, insects and medicinal plants. After dinner, you will rest in your room for the next day.

We will get up at 4:30 am and take a boat for 1.5 hours to the “Chuncho” Clay Lick, where we can see mammals like Capybaras, Tapirs and maybe Jaguars, as well as the sunrise. We will watch hundreds of parrots and macaws and learn why they gather there. We will have a picnic breakfast and then go back to Puerto Maldonado and our next lodge “Monte Amazonico”. After lunch, we will visit the Monkeys Island and see howlers, capuchins and friars in their natural habitat. We will return to the lodge for dinner and then go on a night boat trip to look for White Caimans. We will capture them briefly for explanation and then release them. We will rest in our room after this adventure.

We will have breakfast and then take a 30-minute boat ride to the Sandoval Lake Control Center. We will walk for an hour to the lake, wearing rubber boots to avoid the mud. We will sail on the lake and see Giant Otters, Piranhas, birds and more. We will go back to the lodge for lunch and a break. Then we will do a night walk to find insects, arachnids, amphibians and reptiles. We will have dinner and rest.

We will start the day with tree climbing and canopy views of the trees and birds. After breakfast, we will go on a boat to a small river for Artisanal Fishing and see fish. We will have lunch and then walk in the jungle to see more animals. We will say goodbye to the lodge staff and take the boat to Puerto Maldonado.
