Citizens of countries such as the USA, Canada, Austria, Germany, France, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Taiwan, the UK, and many others do not currently need a visa. However, entry requirements in Latin America can change unexpectedly, so it is essential for each traveler to verify the most recent visa information by contacting the consulate or embassy.

It is generally not safe to drink tap water in Guatemala. We recommend opting for bottled water, which is widely available at tourist sites, hotels, and restaurants. It is important to use bottled water even when brushing your teeth. Additionally, be cautious with ice as it may not always be made with boiled or bottled water. You can request beverages without ice ("sin hielo") or consult your tour leader for information on the safety of ice in specific restaurants.

It is advisable to bring a small amount of US cash and use ATMs to withdraw local currency as needed during your trip. ATMs are readily available in larger towns and cities, allowing you to withdraw US dollars or local currency at fair exchange rates. While traveler's checks are an option, they can be more challenging to exchange and may result in poorer rates or additional fees.
