The Everest High Valley Trek Itinerary

Our guide will pick you up at the airport, then escort you to your hotel. The rest of the day is reserved for rest.

You will enjoy a scenic 30-minute flight to Lukla, then start your real trekking adventure in the Everest region. You meet our guide at the airport and climb up to Phakding along the Dudh Koshi Valley. If you have time, you can pay a visit to the famous monastery of Phakding village.

The track leading to Namche takes you through the round river, crossing a few times via high suspension bridges. After some hours, you reach Monjo, the entry point of the Sagarmatha National Park. From here, you take a steep walk to Namche.

Take a rest in Namche. Namche is the major trading village in Khumbu and has a very busy market. You can stroll around the market and pick up souvenirs and gifts.

From Namche, you turn west and walk towards the Bhote Koshi Valley. Passing several mani rocks and prayer flags, you descend down to the Bhote Koshi and take a steep climb to Thame. You get to experience the deadly Nangpa La Pass, Thame Gompa and the stunning views of towering peaks in the Thame Village.

From Thame village, you follow a tranquil way that leads to remarkable Khumjung. This village also has a Gompa at the top. You camp in the village and observe the fantastic views of Thamserku, Katenga and Ama Dablam.

Leaving Khumjun, you follow the track that leads to the crest of the ridge where you get to visit a large Buddhist shrine. You then descend down to Dudh Koshi from the ridge and have lunch. After spending an hour at Dudh Koshi, you will follow the steep trails to Dole, passing through Phortse Tenga and lush forests.

After leaving Dole, the trail climbs gradually along the side of the valley. You pass through the enchanting rhododendron forests, summer settlements and captivating landscapes. Though this is a short trek, you get to experience the amazing panoramas of Mt. Cho Oyu, Mt. Kantega, and Mt. Thamserku.

Gokyo lakes exploration day. You take an incredibly beautiful trail to Pangka and then trek down, following the melting river. After, you will follow a trail that climbs up to a rocky path, then into the valley by the corner of the Nygozumoa glacier, passing the sacred Gokyo Lake. After exploring the first lake, you cross a path that leads across the glacier to observe the second lake. The third lake is known as ‘Milk Lake’.

Get up with the sunrise and follow a steeply inclined path up to the hillside, leaving the camp behind. As you climb, the summits of the Everest, Makalu, Lhotse and Gokyo Ri come into view.

You trek down to Phortse along the Valley on the 11th day of your Everest High Valley trek. You Camp amongst the potato fields in the higher part of the village and enjoy the encapsulating views of the mountains.

The route leading to Dingboche from Phortse is a circular path that climbs and curves around the western side of the Imja valley. The trail greets you with the best views of majestic peaks.

After having lunch at Pangboche, you check out the legendary monastery, which has artifacts believed to be the skull and hand of a yeti, and trek through hilly meadows to Dingboche.

From Dingboche, you trek up to the fatal debris of the Khumbu glacier. There you can see a row of rock memorials constructed in tribute of the dead Sherpas who had died on Mt. Everest climbing trips. From the Khumbu glacier, you will descend down and follow the west side of the valley to Lobuche.

You get up and hit the trail early as an early start is required if you want to reach Gorak Shep. Have lunch at Gorak Shep and head towards Everest Base Camp.

You get to view the ice summits and deadly crevasses on the trail. While returning back to Gorak Shep from the camp, you can take a different trail to catch a glimpse of the Khumbu Icefall.

A very early trek is essential to reach the Kala Patthar [5,545m]. The trail leading to Kala Patthar has a steep incline, so it’s a slow and careful trek to reach the top. The sight from the top of Kala Patthar is one of the best views of the mighty Mt Everest. After spending some time at the top, you walk back to your camp at Gorak Shep, have lunch and descend down to Pheriche.

From Pheriche, you descend down towards Tengboche. The trail takes you through the bridge over the Dudh Koshi River to reach Kyanjuma. Kyanjuma is the junction of the trinity paths to Gokyo Valley, Khumjung village and Namche Bazaar.

Descending along the Dudh Koshi Valley, you reach Phakding in a very short amount time. On this hike, you will enjoy the passes and lush forests.

On this day, you follow the Dudh Kosi down to Lukla. This last evening calls for a celebration with the Sherpa guides, porters and fellow travelers.
