LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL IMMERSION- Arusha or moshi
Day 0: Arrival and transfer to IFRE contact hostel
Day 1: Meet and be greeted by IFRE in-country staff members; followed by session on general question/answer (please be prepared to ask any questions you have of your respective programs. Inquire into any other matters regarding your accommodation, meal or any other issues are also most welcomed.) Swahili language program follows this season (2-3 hours), and explore nearby villages/areas later .
Day 2: Language lesson continues with practice of basic greeting words/phrases (lasting 2-3 hours), first day's lesion also reviewed. After class, further explore local village at your leisure. Or, travel to Arusha or Moshi.
Day 3: Exploring the city of Arusha and Moshi
Volunteers will explore the beautiful cities of Arusha and Moshi where they will enjoy the sights of many religious temples, most notable of which will be the center of town mosque. You will the visit the metal pillar while touring Commonwealth War Cemetery . The pillar was used for hanging the ill-fated.
Day 4: Language lesson today (for 2-3 hours) contains: review and practice of basic words, practice speaking, then followed by a lecture program from Global Crossroad's Tanzania Director will be about program, history, culture, religion, etc. Lastly, a short cultural program will be followed by a travel to nearby beaches.
Day 5: Continuation of language lesson (for 2-3 hours), lesson of the other days will be reviewed, greeting words/phrases will be practiced. After lesson, explore village at leisure. Or, travel to Arusha or Moshi.
Day 6: More language lesson (again 2-3 hours); it will be similar to day 5. After lesson, same like day 5.
Day 7: Closing day of language and cultural immersion program; progress will be evaluated. Depart to respective projects after which introduction to respective projects' staff members, host families, and beginning of respective programs will be held.
