The Sponsor a Child Program was created in 2007 to improve the livelihoods of the children living at Good Hope Orphanage. Sponsors are able to support the children in their education, health care, and daily needs. Specifically, this means through a donation you will provide a child from the orphanage with their school fees, medical care, clothing, food, and more. I am happy to let you know that in April 2010 I was able to visit the children of Good Hope. I would like to update you on some of the progress that has taken place in the last three years. Eleven children live at the orphanage and since 2007 some children were able to move from the orphanage into homes with their extended families, in addition the school has expanded to five classrooms and now has over 100 children enrolled. Most of the children at the orphanage are now speaking and writing in English, which makes it much easier for them to communicate with their sponsors. Sponsoring a child gives you the opportunity to make a connection with a child and give them the chance to live a healthy and educated life. You will be able to communicate with the child through the directors of Good Hope, and by building a relationship with this child you will be able to learn more about the child's background.
School fees are $150 per year, and you may choose to donate beyond that to supplement for medical care and daily needs. Please contact me if you would like details about the Sponsor a Child Program, or questions about donating.

Below are the pictures from my recent visit to Good Hope Orphanage in addition to pictures of the children that still need to be sponsored. There are currently five children at the orphanage who need to be sponsored, three of them girls (Mariam, Rachel, and Rayah) and two boys (Mohamed and Fredy).
