Major FAQ-South Africa
About South Africa volunteer program (In General)
How long has IFRE been working in South Africa ? Whom do you work with? Where are you located? What are IFRE's programs?
We have been running our volunteer program in South Africa for nearly two years. IFRE partners with a South African Foundation that is run by a Strategic Tourism Communication Practice and Travel Route Planner. The South African Foundation is highly motivated to convert tourist dollars into sustainable development. The Foundation involves community m em bers in the international volunteering process so they can learn business skills and develop relationships with people all over the world.
IFRE is able to offer volunteer projects working in orphanages, in public health, teaching English, and community development. We need orphanage volunteers who are dedicated and willing to immerse th em selves into sometimes difficult situations. If you can act as a mentor, role-model and parent figure for these kids, most of whom have never known their natural parents then this project is for you! English teachers will be working in the poorest state schools. And whilst the schools are funded by the Federal Government, resources are limited, and as much hands on assistance is required by native speakers of the English language. Conservation volunteers help with educational programs and the preservation of the national parks and endangered indigenous plants. Health Care volunteers are placed in health centers or hospitals situated in very poor areas and act as assistant to the local health care team. |
