Major FAQ-South Africa
Airport and Arrival Information
Who will meet me at the airport? What should I do if I get delayed or miss a flight? When should I arrive?
All South Africa volunteers are asked to arrive at the Cape Town International Airport (CPT) Cape Town , South Africa . Someone from our organization will be at the airport to meet your flight. We must have your flight itinerary in advance to arrange your airport pick up. Take care to get complete information to our US office well in advance. We ask that you fly with all your important documents, including your volunteer plac em ent, passport, visa and vaccination booklet. Please have th em accessible in case you are asked to produce th em . Institute for Field Research Expeditions highly recommends the volunteers obtain the visa from the Embassy/Consulate in their home country. A visa is your entry permit into the country and is required for travel into South Africa .
If some sort of delay occurs, including flight delays or missed flight, contact our office as soon as possible. We will collect your revised itinerary and arrange to pick you up. If you should get lost again, go on to the office, the information is on your plac em ent details and should be otherwise recorded in your important documents. Once you meet our representative or coordinator, you will be transferred to our offices and on to your host family. You will meet staff and fellow volunteers there.
We suggest volunteers coming to South Africa arrive one day before their program start date. If you arrive more than one day early or stay after the program, you will be responsible for your room and food expenses. |
