Job Title: Country Coordinator
IFRE Volunteers, a Non-Profit 501(c)3 organization based in Dallas, Texas, is one of the leading volunteer abroad organizations in the United States. Since 2005, we have been offering the most affordable, safe, highest quality volunteer-abroad experiences in 18 different countries of Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In our program, volunteers live and work alongside local communities in the developing world. At IFRE, we are committed to offering safe, life-changing volunteer abroad experiences that are comprised of a volunteer project, cultural immersion, travel, and learning opportunities. To make our program more effective and to offer more services to our volunteers, we have recently begun a search to hire coordinators from the United States, Canada, or any other English speaking country to work alongside our local coordinators in each of our volunteer locations, and we are presently looking for applicants for positions in Nepal, India, Kenya, and Ghana.
Responsibilities
- Work jointly with local staffs to host volunteers from around the world
- Remain in daily contact with our U.S. office
- Call volunteers before they arrive for pre-departure orientation
- Provide a full orientation for volunteers once they arrive
- Ensure the health and safety of volunteers to the best of your ability
- Oversee logistics with support from local staff
- Visit volunteers each week to make sure that things are going well
- Facilitate cross-cultural interactions with the local community
- Participate wholly in all program activities
- Work collaboratively with local projects
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience as a volunteer (or similar experience) in a foreign country
- Previous experience working with volunteers/youth
- A love of travel, volunteering, and supporting local communities
- Very strong logistical and organizational skills
- Proven success managing groups and promoting positive group dynamics
- Previous experience facilitating cultural and educational sessions
- Potisitve attitude, problem solving skills, maturity, and good moral conduct
- Comfortable with basic living and working conditions, sometimes without good plumbing and/or dependable electricity;
- Ability to lead a group and shovel, twist, bend and walk for up to six hours per day, often in temperatures exceeding 90 degrees Fahrenheit and in very humid climates
- Must be a U.S. citizen or citizen of an English speaking country
- Must have a valid passport that will not expire before six months after the program year
- Previous travel/living experience in developing countries preferred
