Internship in Argentina : NGO - Human and Environmental Rights Project

This internship is a great opportunity for anyone pursuing a social or environmental career to learn more about their field. Both environmental and human rights are often compromised in developing countries around the world. Often ignored, the rights of the citizens are often back-seated in an effort to catch up with the rest of the developed world on an economic level. The same goes for the environment. If a forest must be razed and leveled for the sake of commerce and industrialization, such a forest would be annihilated within the blink-of-an-eye and without hesitation. As an intern, you will study the issues faced by citizens and what can be don't to improve them.

In collaboration with NGOs hoping to address these very important topics, interns are needed to assist in halting the destruction of the environment as well as its people's rights. Global thinkers and human rights activists are ideal for this project as well as self-starters sympathetic to the ploy of their fellow and less fortunate man.

Skills/Qualifications

No specific qualifications are required to join the NGO: Human and Environmental Rights project in Argentina . However, interested individuals should have a passion and eagerness to help less fortunate and disabled children. While Spanish is preferred, it is not required. IFRE offers free Spanish lessons to interns in Córdoba. NOTE: interns who have no previous Spanish-speaking experience are required to take advantage of the free Spanish lessons to ensure the highest level of interaction/contribution. Interns are expected to be flexible, adaptive, patient and proactive.

Intern's responsibilities

Interns participating in this project should be interested in and passionate about human and environmental rights and the preservation of both. Interns will assist in advising and educating communities regarding issues pertaining to the above-mentioned rights - conducting and participating in workshops or seminars aiming to disperse information to regional communities within and surrounding the city of Córdoba . Intern's duties include (but are not limited to): relevant field research, skills-training, attending/organizing conferences, archiving of related materials/findings, publishing various materials, and more.

Internship in Argentina : Internship Project and Role of Supervisor

One of the most distinguished features of IFRE's internships in Argentina is the guidance of supervisors. IFRE will assign a qualified supervisor to provide assistance for all interns throughout the duration of their chosen internship. Individuals filling the role of supervisor are usually either the director or chosen staff member of the project which interns choose. During your time as an international intern, you will be assigned a number of duties which volunteers also perform (in this sense, there are very few differences between IFRE's volunteers and interns). In the internship, you will select a particular area of your interest related to NGO (Human and Environmental Rights) and explore the issue further with the help of your assigned supervisor. Please note: the project supervisor DOES NOT develop internships as this is up to the intern to get as much or as little out of their projects. ALL participants should be proactive to ensure the ultimate success of their internships. Supervisors will provide at least five (5) hours each week to make certain that interns are adequately guided.

Room/Food

IFRE manages living accommodations and meals within a regional guesthouse located in a charming neighborhood within the city of Córdoba . The city of Córdoba boasts a number of exciting opportunities for interns wanting to see a city with a bright future which still maintains reverberations of its colonial and culture-rich past. Córdoba's plentiful cultural has produced a number of influential writers, its own musical styles (known as 'the cuarteto' in addition to tastes of classical, jazz, rock, pop and electronic), abundant monuments, lively festivals, enthralling theaters and a pulsing nightlife. Interns reside in accommodations which are located just minutes from the downtown area. This unique living situation is often quite conducive to fellow interns becoming acquainted with each other. Furthermore, Spanish AND Tango lessons are provided for participants in these living accommodations which also conveniently double as our local operator's headquarters - ensuring constant contact with in-country coordinators. Interns will receive three (3) local meals each day .
