Internship in Argentina : NGO - Community Development Project
Interns who want to explore issues of poverty and how to improve ways of living for others would fit in great with this project. With altruism being such a prevalent theme throughout much of Argentina , those who are able to provide help to their fellow Argentineans do so and on a regular basis. Numerous non-governmental organizations (NGOs) provide much needed assistance to non-profit organizations of various sizes throughout Argentina . This internship is a great opportunity to gain experience in the management of a community and NGO. Advice in the fields of management, budgeting and human resources are needed on a daily basis. More and more NGOs are striving toward goals such as self-sustainability in hopes of improving the living conditions of their surrounding environment as well as their fellow Argentineans.
In collaboration with already-existing NGOs (as well as NGOs in the making), interns from a number of backgrounds can lend their expertise to receptive organizations in the following fields: social sciences, social work, psychology, sociology, economics, management, marketing, political science, international relations and more.
Skills/Qualifications
No specific qualifications are required to join the NGO: Community Development project in Argentina . However, interested individuals should have a passion and eagerness to help less fortunate and disabled children. While Spanish is preferred it is not required. IFRE offers free Spanish lessons to interns in Córdoba. NOTE: interns who have no previous Spanish-speaking experience are required to take advantage of the free Spanish lessons to ensure the highest level of interaction/contribution. Interns are expected to be flexible, adaptive, patient and proactive.
Interns responsibilities:
Interns in IFRE's NGO: Community Development project can expect to support the local NGOs and their various goals as outlined by the function which they perform within their respective communities. Interns with the following skills will find this project significantly beneficial in understanding the needs of NGOs in Argentina : marketing, fundraising, project planning, accounting, report-planning, photography, surveying, graphic design, web-based research, database building/managing, networking, etc. Interns' personal skills and abilities are often taken into account - matching specific skills with at-the-moment needs.
Internship in Argentina : Internship Project and Role of Supervisor
One of the most distinguished features of IFRE's internships in Argentina is the guidance of supervisors. IFRE will assign a qualified supervisor to provide assistance for all interns throughout the duration of their chosen internship. Individuals filling the role of supervisor are usually either the director or chosen staff member of the project which interns choose. During your time as an international intern, you will be assigned a number of duties which volunteers also perform (in this sense, there are very few differences between IFRE's volunteers and interns). In the internship, you will select a particular area of your interest related to NGO (Community Development) and explore the issue further with the help of your assigned supervisor. Please note: the project supervisor DOES NOT develop internships as this is up to the intern to get as much or as little out of their projects. ALL participants should be proactive to ensure the ultimate success of their internships. Supervisors will provide at least five (5) hours each week to make certain that interns are adequately guided. Room/Food
IFRE manages living accommodations and meals within a regional guesthouse located in a charming neighborhood within the city of Córdoba . The city of Córdoba boasts a number of exciting opportunities for interns wanting to see a city with a bright future which still maintains reverberations of its colonial and culture-rich past. Córdoba's plentiful cultural has produced a number of influential writers, its own musical styles (known as 'the cuarteto' in addition to tastes of classical, jazz, rock, pop and electronic), abundant monuments, lively festivals, enthralling theaters and a pulsing nightlife. Interns reside in accommodations which are located just minutes from the downtown area. This unique living situation is often quite conducive to fellow interns becoming acquainted with each other. Furthermore, Spanish AND Tango lessons are provided for participants in these living accommodations which also conveniently double as our local operator's headquarters - ensuring constant contact with in-country coordinators. Interns will receive three (3) local meals each day .
