Help Tanzanian Children get Computers and pursue their dream of learning how to use a computer IFRE volunteers Mr. John Stampley collects funds to purchase computers for orphans so that they can pursue their dream of understanding how to use a computer
My experience with IFRE was wonderful! In January of 2007 I had the opportunity to volunteer as a mathematics teacher in Dar Es Salaam , Tanzania thru IFRE. The orientation program in Dar was great we had Kiswahili language class every day from Yotam! He was a superb instructor and I have honestly never learned this much of a foreign language that fast! Also we had a few mini excursions to Cocoa Beach , various markets, the Tanzanian Cultural Museum , and a tour of Downtown Dar Es Salaam. We also traveled by taxi, Dala Dala (mini-bus), 3 wheeled car, and by foot. Over all Hospitality was paramount and my experience was incredible. IFRE arranged everything through the on-site coordinators and I am more than thankful to IFRE for making my trip a trip of a lifetime.
Overall, I spent about 9 weeks working with students at Olof Education Centre. If you had the opportunity to spend one hour in class with them I know you would never forget them as I never will. I attached a few photos of some of the students so you can see them and the Centre which doubles as both a home and a school housing nearly 100 students.
As you know one of the best gift's you can give a person is an Education.
Currently, along with the school we are raising funds to purchase refurbished computers through the World Computer Exchange for the school. Our goal is to purchase 40 computers @ $89USD per unit. Currently we have raised $1600USD and we still need $2000USD more to make the purchase.
Thank You,
John Stampley
