About IFRE's Honduras Volunteer Program (in General)
How long has IFRE been working in Honduras ? Whom do you work with? Where are you located? What are IFRE's programs?
IFRE has been running volunteer projects for a number of years all over Latin America . We work with a number of NGOs, governmental organizations, non-profits and communities. IFRE's volunteer projects in Honduras are located in La Cieba, Copan Ruinas and regions found throughout the ancient reaches of the Mayan Empire. With a number of beautifully diverse regions displaying some of the most stunning and scenic panoramas found in Central America, the entire country of Honduras is simply a sight to behold. With the underwater adventures of the luminous and radiant Bay Islands , to the ancient stories told within the stones of the celebrated city of Copan Ruinas , Honduras justly does have something for everyone.
With easy access to public transportation, volunteers have all that historical Honduras has to offer within a simply bus ride away Furthermore, with coach buses offered by a number of transportation and tour providers, neighboring, Central American countries are mere hours away. Currently, IFRE offers the following projects in Honduras : Orphanage Project, Disadvantaged Children/Children at Risk Project, English-Teaching Project, HIV/AIDS Project, and a Healthcare Project. ALSO: IFRE offers free Spanish lessons to participants volunteering in Honduras . For some projects, a certain level of Spanish is preferred to prevent volunteers from becoming frustrated due to the occasionally-occurring language barrier.
