Are you thinking of learning or improving your Spanish language while traveling the numerous Latin American countries? Then IFRE's Ecuador program can be a perfect choice.
Presently, IFRE offers 2 weeks of free Spanish language classes for volunteers joining the Ecuador volunteer program. With the program, you will volunteer and learn Spanish simultaneously. For example, volunteers can take Spanish classes from 9:00-11:00 AM (before lunch) followed by volunteer activities. Another option volunteers have is to take Spanish classes from 3:00-4:00 PM (after their day's volunteer work). Most of the projects are close to our nearby office (Spanish language center), so it is possible for volunteers do either.
IFRE offers group Spanish lessons each day at both the beginner and intermediate levels (no advance level). If participants choose to continue the Spanish program, they may do so by paying $5 per hour for the entire duration of the program (maximum of 12 weeks). Participate may also choose to discontinue the program and devote more time to either volunteering work or exploring other things.
The Spanish portion of the program is not mandatory, but most projects in Ecuador do require at least a basic to intermediate level of understanding of Spanish. The more Spanish you learn the more you can do in your work.
So take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and explore Ecuador, the smallest country in the jagged Andean highlands, while improving your Spanish
