Who knew! If your favorite band is playing in Berlin , the concierge service will book tickets for you. If you forgot Mom's birthday, ask them to send a bunch of flowers. If you need a ride to the airport ask for a car to pick you up. If you've arrived in Moscow at 2 in the morning and need a hotel reservation, give them a call. Of course you have to pay, but it's a lot easier this way than trying to figure it out for yourself. And if there's a real emergency these good folk are the best friends you'll ever have.

So everyone's got a cell phone these days, but here's the news. Most US cell phones don't work overseas. And if it happens that they do, the rates are astronomical with local roaming fees on top of the international calling rate. And make calls from your hotel room phone and prepared to wash dished for 6 months to pay for your bill when you check out. The phone card that's included with your Travel Card gives you rates as low as 3 cents a minute (UK to USA) which is a cheap as it gets, and it works in 151 countries! In addition you get a voicemail box which your friends and family can access to leave you messages, a free email account and on-line access to your account so you can keep track of things. You can add funds to it from wherever you are in the world, or better yet, get someone else to (Thanks Mom!)
Pay - ATM/Debit Card (provided by Ecount®)
Wherever you're going you need to be able to pay for things and need local currency. You want to be able to manage your budget and keep your money safe. The Prepaid Visa Card is a perfect vehicle for this. You don't need to carry cash around, it'll work in thousands of ATM's around the world and millions of places wherever Visa debit cards are accepted, and that's just about everywhere. You can manage you account on-line, check activity and your balance. You, or the folks back home, can top up the balance whenever you want and even set up a regular allowance. From a security standpoint, your card is not connected to your bank account thus minimizing the chance of fraud, and you over spending. If it's lost, as long as you report it within 48 hours Visa will protect you against any fraudulent activity and we'll replace it quickly. It's a great thing to be able to stick your card in an ATM at the airport, get some local cash and pay for the taxi or bus to your hotel. The alternatives can often be complicated or worse, a bit shady, which is not what you feel like after a long flight.

This is a very handy feature which is going to make life a lot easier for you if, you lose your tickets and passport, (or in this age of electronic tickets, just forget where you are going and when!) Having copies will make getting replacements a lot easier . You can also store copies of anything else you may need, birth certificate, academic transcripts, your resume, drivers license and anything else that could be useful. You can retrieve copies on a fax machine anywhere in the world. The information storage facility allows you to enter anything and everything including your whole address book if you wish, contacts of people you meet on the road, important details such as your Travel Card Number, account PINS etc. It's all secure and password protected so only you can access it. |
